Last night, Brad Sellers scored enough points with voters to win his bid for Mayor of Warrensville Heights, Ohio. The former Ohio State University and NBA basketball player had been serving as the economic development director of the small kissing cousin of Cleveland, Ohio for ten years. It just goes to show you that despite the ugly—potentially libelous—anonymous letter sent to residents, an adored celebrity need not answer any coward shouting down a page in block letters. The letter asked these disturbing questions:
- Did infidelity (cheating) play a part in his divorce from Radio personality and muscular sclerosis [?] stricken Kym Sellers [of WZAK 93 FM, Cleveland, Ohio]
- Why did he not graduate from Ohio State when he had the opportunity to do so? Does he have a college degree? He received a free education [a scholarship].
- Does he own a home in Warrensville HTS? A check of the county records shows no!!!
- Will he do the city like he did his ex? Turn his back and run when the going gets tough? [Ouch!]
- Why did his ex have to sue to get spousal support? Check the county records for yourself.
“What? A little mayoral scandal?
We’ve been here before, haven’t we?”
The anonymous letter went on to say in bold BLOCK letters, “…there are other choices for mayor that should be considered.” The letter claimed that Brad Sellers abandoned his wife (and 4 little girls) when she became “crippled.” Crippled? It also admonished residents of the city to ignore The Plain Dealer endorsement as “We do not need another Arnold Schwarzenegger, Eliot Spitzer, or cross-dressing mayor. We as residents need an educated, honest, fulltime mayor, that does not run on the coat tails of others.”
Anonymous coward, I guess 2,193 voters have spoken!
Better luck next time, soror Deborah A. Hill. No matter how pink and green we are with envy, a service-oriented AKA would never call anyone a “cripple”! (Or would we?)
Old man Hall, on the other hand, who came in second with 1,016 votes, had the motive and the funds to circulate such libelous libel. If you recall, Clinton Hall gained the mayoral seat when (D) Rep. Marcia L. Fudge won the special election of November 4, 2008 to the 11th Congressional District of Ohio after the death of beloved Stephanie Tubbs Jones.
Everybody over the age of teething knows that only an old blackbiting fart over the age of sixty would still be using words like “cripple” and “muscular sclerosis.” (By the way, are muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis now a hybrid?) Apparently, old fogies don’t know about spellcheck either: “fudamental right,” finacial ties,” “fully vetted candiate,” “coat tails”? (Oops, I think I just peed my Depends!)
Editor’s note: The stuff in brackets is the editor’s stuff.
well, wow and damn!
first of all, i didn’t know brad sellers is the ex of soror kim sellers (i don’t get out much).
secondly, i hope it wasn’t deborah a hill writing and distributing that letter BUT when you are that far behind desperate measures are called for.
lastly, politics is meant to be observed and not to participate in.
That anonymous letter was crazy. Also, Deborah isn’t illiterate, is she? Whoever wrote the letter either was or wanted us to believe that they only had an eighth grade education–a Cleveland Public School eighth grade education. Hmmm. Thanks for staying up and commenting. Nighty night!
Wow, shame on her for putting those words out there into the universe about Mr. Sellers. Brad was a good basketball player for the Bulls and played with Michael Jordan. Congrats to him as being the mayor of Warrensville Hts., Ohio. Now, there are two good guys that are Mayors in Warrensville and Randall, Ohio…Mayor David Smith, my pastor, childhood friend and the mayor of North Randall, Ohio and Mayor Brad Sellers, two ex. high school basketball players that made history for their respective towns and mother city, Cleveland, Ohio, and were pretty good basketball players on the court and high school. In closing, Mayor Sellers should not worry about Ms. Deborah words of ridicule because people talked about the Lord Jesus before he was put on the cross to die, but, they failed. And look at Mayor Brad Sellers now. He scored one of the best winning shots of his life…being the Mayor of a wonderful city that has such great potential. He finally got his ring, being the Mayor of Warrensville Hts., Ohio.
Thanks, Tony for the comment. If I were Mayor Brad Sellers or David Smith, I would feel honored to hear such kind words.
De nada, Ms. Holiday Vann, I agree 100 percent.Thank you.
I adore Kym Sellers. Too bad the man she married is a lowlife pig. Now because he cheated and walked out on her. He’d know he was husband in name only. It appears that for him his opportune time was one of her lowest moments. That makes him a pig no matter what ‘great’ mayor he happens to be. He’s fsux
Well, you know men, especially one’s with a li’l baller status. They are not sticking around for “the worse” in the “for better or worse” part of the marriage vows. Most men (even when they are ‘nobodys’) won’t stay loyal to a sick spouse. But men can come back home from a war without legs and only one arm and half a fuckin’ face and some woman will try to live up to the “or worse” part of the marriage vows. That’s life, tho’, ain’t it? Schitt happens.
(BTW, what’s “fsux”? A typo?)
