First lady Michelle Obama’s speech was a riveting tear-jerker (for those of us who are not robots)!
It was a speech honoring the hope of mothers and fathers; the strivings of the human spirit; sacrifices at home and abroad; a speech in support of simple human rights such as healthcare, education, and liberty for all; and of American pride.
President Barack Obama must be as proud of his wife as his beautiful daughters–and all of the U.S.A. “How hard you work,” Michelle Obama said, “is more important than how much you make.”
The first lady urged us all to remember that slamming the door shut behind you once you have reached your American dream is not the American way. This message of “We’re all in this together” and that success is a collective effort through good times, and especially the hard times, such as these, was a theme that resounded throughout the heartfelt speeches of real human beings at tonight’s Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The first lady of the United States and mom-in-chief, I think we can all agree, was well worth the extended wait. And as usual, and as expected, she did not disappoint.
