What I learned about LeBron James’ decision to return to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers is that I was holding a bigger grudge against Cleveland fans (and all of you who jumped on the Hate Bandwagon across the country) than he was.
I cried when he said, “I’m coming home!” because I wanted to keep witnessing his star rising at Cleveland’s expense. Why?!! Because of your lousy treatment of him! That’s why!
The “All Is Forgiven” tee-shirts are ridiculous because LeBron never did anything wrong; he simply opted to leave Cleveland. This was his choice after serving 7 long, hard years pretty much doing all the work, carrying all the burden, all by his very tired nail-biting frustrated self. He honored his contract. That was all he needed to do. But babies and other immature people masquerading as true fans are gonna whine. And whine you did!! To the top of your lungs with hate.
I, personally, never stopped loving LeBron and his family–whether the WAY he left was right or wrong. And I never will. That’s a true fan.
Long Live the King!
