Alton Tinker, President of the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival (GCUFF) Foundation, and actor Darrin Henson of Four of Hearts, a featured film this year, spoke to Cleveland’s local media about the Film Festival today.
“It’s a very big weekend for us this weekend,” said Tinker. “What makes us unique is that we feature films by African Americans from the African American diaspora. In addition to shorts, documentaries and webisodes, we have an array of feature films to entertain the audience of Cleveland.”
Darrin Henson, award-winning choreographer and YouTube sensation for his DVD Darrin’s Dance Grooves, is one of the ambassadors of GCUFF this year. Michael Jackson, Prince, Britney spears, J. Lo, and Christina Aguilera credit him for creating some of their most memorable dance moves.
“I helped create the pop culture that we know today,” said Henson.
Darrin Henson, the actor and producer, is also well known for his role in the box office hit Stomp the Yard and for his work on the long-running television series Soul Food.
This weekend the newly wed and father of five is promoting his latest endeavor, Four of Hearts, a feature-length film which explores wife and husband swapping as a lifestyle and the responsibilities that go along with it. As the trailer warns, “Some lines can’t be uncrossed.”
Fans will be thrilled to know that Darrin Henson has four films coming out in 2015 and a new book. Where does he find the time?
While most attendees of the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival are local, “the festival is growing in popularity each year,” said Tinker. “Attendance has grown from 800 in the first year to 1500 this year. Nearly doubling.”
